COME SEE HOW TO APPLY THE CHEER MAKE-UP--
There will be a demonstration of the application of the Oklahoma Twister cheer competition make-up at next weeks practice.
**Sunday, October 19, for the Sunday squads at 2:45 and 4:45.
**Monday, October 20, for the Minis squad at 7:30 p.m.

 OUR FIRST COMPETITION--
Out first competition will be the E-Town Showdown in Enid, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 25, 2008! (Only one more squad practice before our squads compete. So make sure all of the cheerleaders are at practice!!)
National Spirit Alliance (NSA) is hosting this competition at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center, 111 W. Purdue Ave., Enid, Oklahoma, 73701. The NSA web site has directions to the Expo Center--www.nationalspiritalliance.com. The entrance fee is as follows: adults $10, students $5,  children under 5 and cheerleaders will get in free. Parking is free. Concession stands will be open during the competition.

 COMPETITION TIME--
As soon as Jeff and Craig get our competition times for our squads, we will let you know our check-in time for Enid. All squads will arrive early enough to support the first of the Oklahoma Twister squads to compete. All squads will be staying until the last squad competes, so all teams have the support of the "gym family". OTSF!!

UNIFORM, HAIR, MAKE-UP--
Cheerleaders need to come in their full uniform, and hair up in a high straight pony tail at the crown of their head. If the pony tail is not up on crown of the cheerleaders head, you will be asked to redo the pony tail higher. Curly hair needs to be straightened for the pony tail.
The bangs can be swooped to the side or slicked straight back, but no bangs hanging down.
Hairspray/gel hair slicked up in the pony tail, no "flight aways".
Cheerleaders must wear white socks that come up to ankle above the top of shoes. No low socks.
Colored fingernail polish and all jewelry must be removed for the competition.
Make-up needs to be on upon arrival for the squads competing early. Older squads competing later in the day must have make-up on before meeting with the coaches for practice/warm-up.
If on more than one squad--bring both uniforms if squads have different ones!
Wear cheer bow on the pony tail at crown of head so that it points towards the crowd. The judges should be able to see your full bow.
The Twister tattoo goes on the "apple" of the right check. The right check is the "right" one. (Tattoos have been ordered, and will be $1 each.)

Check list head to toe--
Girls--elastic hair band, hairspray/gel, hair clips for "fly aways", cheer bow, tattoo, make-up kit, mascara, uniform top, bloomers/spankys. uniform skirt,  all white socks above shoe top, all white shoes, fingernail polish and jewelry removed. Boys-- need their cheer top, cheer pants, socks, shoes.

If any questions--let your squad parent know.

 2) Change of date for competition in Nov. The Garland , Texas competition was Sat. Nov. 1, 2008. It has been changed to Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008. The competition is both days, but with the squads we are taking, our competition day is on Sunday.

As the date gets closer, I will have more information for you.

 3) Add Nov. 23rd, 2008 to your competition list. The Oklahoma Twisters Gym is hosting a competition on Nov. 23, 2008 at the Newcastle gym. The plan is for all of the All Star squads to perform at this competition. This is a fundraiser for the World's squads going to Florida for the Worlds Cheerleading Competition in April 2009. The set-up day will be Sat. Nov. 22, 2008. Anyone interested in helping set-up for the competition is welcome. The times are TBA.

4) Oklahoma Twisters End-Of-The-Year Banquet will probably be March 7, 2009. I am waiting to hear if this date is available at the event site. Once I have the date confirmed, I will let you know.

 5) Fundraising- Our fundraising chairperson is Crystal Yoesting, Crystain Clinton's mother. She has volunteered to help us with this job again this year. Crystal will bring fundraising dates and information to the parent meeting on Sept. 28, 2008.

 6) Each year the parents give the cheerleaders a 'Nationals Gift" at a Nationals competition. This year our Nationals gift will be given at the Branson competition. Every cheerleader will get the same gift. Jeff is looking into the gift choices. Expect the cost to be $25-$30 per cheerleader. This is cheap compared to what it would cost to buy each cheerleader a gift separately. It is hard to buy anything for $1. So a squad of 20 kids could easily cost $2 or more per kid--so $40 plus dollars per squad. So $30 per kid for a nice gift is a great deal

 7) Buddy Gifts--For the Nationals competition in Branson, each cheerleader will be assigned a "buddy". Jeff will pair two cheerleaders, and they will buy an inexpensive gift for each other.

 8) Dates we will NOT have All Star Practice-

Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008--for Jr.3 Sr.2 and Sr.4 (Thanksgiving weekend)
Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 --for Jr.3, Sr.2, and Sr.4 and Monday, Dec. 22, 2008-- for MIni's (Christmas week)
Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 -- for Jr.3, Sr.2, and Sr. 4 and Monday, Dec. 29, 2008--for MIni's (Christmas weekend)
Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009--for Jr.3 and Sr.4 Plan on Sr.2 having practice.  (The older cheerleaders on The  World's  squads and their coaches  are in New Orleans .)
Of course, the Sundays we are at a competition, no practice at the gym will occur for the Sunday squads.

 9) Session # 6 covers till Feb. 28th, 2009. So the squads will practice through the end of Feb.

10) Competition Schedule for Mini, Jr.3, Sr.2, Sr.4 squads

Oct 25, Sat-  Enid , OK.—NSA competition
Nov. 2, Sunday-   Garland , Texas-- North Texas NCA Classic

Dec. 6 & 7, Sat & Sun.- Tulsa, Ok.- Athletic Championship 2 day event.

In the past we pre paid for picture CD’s of each squad’s performance at the Athletic Championship --to be purchased at the competition. I will NOT be collecting money for this year After last year, many parents ask me not to order the CD’s any more. Plus last year, some CD’s would not open on a computer. The CD’s that did open were in a DVD form, and would not print pictures. And some of the CD’s were of our squads the year before, not the year we were there. The company did resend corrected CD’s, but it was a big headache!!

Dec. 13 & 14, Sat & Sun—-Branson, Missouri-National Cheer Stars-- 2 day Nationals

 Feb. 7 & 8, 200 - OKC , OK . –JamFest 2 day competition
